VOTER INFORMATION

Eligibility Information

 Voter Registration Eligibility Requirements

       An applicant must be:

  • A resident of New Mexico
  • A citizen of the United States
  • An individual who has not been denied the right to vote by a court of law due to reason of mental incapacity
  • 18 years or older at the time of the next election
  • If a person has been convicted of a felony, they must have completed all of the terms and conditions of parole or supervised probation, or have had the conviction overturned on appeal

You can now register and update your registration online. If you have either a current or expired New Mexico state I.D. (like a driver’s license) you can register for the first time or make changes to your registration—like name, address or party affiliation—easily using our online system.

  • Register to vote online. Registration (by mail or online) closes on October 5, 2021 for the Regular Local Election.
  • After October 5, voters can use Same Day Registration.
  • These links may not work if you are overseas. Click here to find out more about overseas voting and consider using the Federal Post Card Application.

Deadlines

 Oct 5: Voter registration (by mail or online) closes.

  • Oct 5: First day that absentee ballots can be mailed to voters (who have submitted an absentee application), and first day that voters can cast their vote in person at their local county clerk’s office.
  • Oct 16: Additional early voting locations open.
  • Oct 28: Last day to request an absentee ballot.
  • Oct 30: Last day of early voting.
  • Nov 2: Election Day.
